You can win up to £2,500 with Film Africa Travel Grants 2019- 2020, here’s how:
Film Africa project which started in 2011, has gone from strength to strength bringing the best African cinema from across the continent and its diaspora to diverse UK audiences.
The project which has run successfully for eight consecutive years will now be held biennially and the next festival edition will take place in November 2020.
According to the organizers of the projects, the projects we will continue with the mission of celebrating and promoting contemporary African cinema in the UK through the Film Africa Travel Grants 2019-2020, a pilot scheme developed and delivered in partnership with the British Council.
If you are a filmmaker, this is your opportunity to expand your reach and bring networks, because the Film Africa Travel Grants will offer African filmmakers the opportunity to travel to the UK to attend one of eight key international film festivals where their work has been invited to screen.
Successful applicants may be awarded up to £2,500 to cover international travel (including visas), accommodation and subsistence costs for their visit to the UK.
If you are an emerging African filmmaker with an invitation to screen your film at one of the eight festivals on our key festivals list and fulfil the eligibility criteria, we would love you to apply!
The main benefits of this exciting pilot scheme include:
- Travel grants to support international travel to attend one of eight key festivals in the UK.
- Promotion of work to our exclusive programming contacts in these key festivals.
- A bespoke programme of networking opportunities, developed in partnership with the festivals and the British Council’s UK-based Film team.
If your film has already been accepted into a festival on our key festivals list, please fill in the online application form.
If you have not been selected, then we would strongly encourage you to submit your films to those festivals whose submissions are currently open. Please note that all participating festivals have kindly agreed to waive their submission fees to encourage as many African filmmakers as possible to submit their work.
