George Weah is a former professional footballer and the 25th President of Liberia.

Born on October 1, 1966, he grew up in a slum in the Liberian capital of Monrovia and started playing football as a teenager. George Weah became so good that he dropped out of his final year of school to play professional football.

His 18-year professional football career span from Tonnerre Yaoundé, Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan, Manchester City, Marseille, and Chelsea FC

After retiring from football, George went back to school. He obtained his high school diploma in 2006 and earned a bachelor’s degree in business management and a master’s in public administration.

He lost his first and second bid for Liberian Presidency to Africa’s first elected female head of state, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
